Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Finishing first overall at the conclusion of the 1954-55 NHL season with only 17 losses, the Detroit Red Wings, led by leading team-goal scorer Gordie Howe and rock-solid backstop Terry Sawchuk, defeated a powerful pre-dynasty Montreal squad in seven games to hoist Lord Stanley’s coveted hardware. We have a multi-signed Red Wings team photo hailing from that championship season. At 8” x 10” currently (trimmed along three sides at some point) and featuring a black and white posed team photo, the players are listed beneath, with eleven signing in ballpoint on or near their respective image, including Sawchuk, Delvecchio, Bonin, Dineen, Hay, Pavelich, Reibel, Skov, Stasiuk, Woit and Johnny Wilson. The signature blend into the dark background somewhat, with the Sawchuk a nice clean example, signed across his lighter-coloured right pad. The photo itself shows toning and corner wear, with the aforementioned uneven borders.
