Great trio of items originally from Yvon Lambert’s personal collection highlight his time with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs in the AHL on his road to becoming a four-time Stanley Cup champion with the Canadiens. Featured is Lambert’s 1972-73 John Sollenberger Trophy as the AHL’s leading scorer, and his 1971-72 Voyageurs first goal puck trophy and 1971-72 Voyageurs Calder Cup champions team photo. Lambert’s name is engraved on the front of his Sollenberger Trophy, which now stands about 18” tall because the figural hockey player is broken off the top, but included. Comes with two signed LOAs from Yvon Lambert, one for the Sollenberger Trophy and another for the other two items.
A 50-goal scorer with Drummondville as a junior, Lambert repeated the feat in his second season with the AHL’s Nova Scotia Voyageurs in 1972-73 when he won the AHL scoring title. Lambert’s 104 points edged out fellow 100-point linemates Tony Featherstone and Morris Stefaniw to claim the John Sollenberg Memorial Trophy. He matched his 52 goals with 52 assists one year after helping the Voyageurs win the Calder Cup. This distinctive and substantial AHL individual award features a huge two-handle copper cup with "THE JOHN SOLLENBERGER MEMORIAL TROPHY" engraved above an AHL logo crest affixed to the upper part of the bowl. The rounded bottom of the bowl is engraved "AWARDED ANNUALLY TO THE LEADING SCORER IN THE AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE, YVON LAMBERT, NOVA SCOTIA VOYAGEURS, 1972 - 73". The figural player broken off the top stands approximately 4 1/2" tall. It has a one of its skate blades broken off and missing. If repaired, it would bring the height of the trophy up towards 23” tall. An original Balfour sticker and four well-worn circular felt pads remain in place on the underside of the 4 1/2" tall black-painted base, which has some scuffs and scrapes that expose the wood.
The wood trophy honoring Lambert’s first AHL goal for the 1971-72 Voyageurs stands 13” tall. It displays the puck with a screened orange Vees’ logos mounted on top. “1er” (French for 1st) is handwritten at the bottom of the V in the logo on each side and “AHL” and “Halifax” are also handwritten on the logo on the front. A French plaque at the bottom of the trophy identifies the puck as Lambert’s first goal with Nova Scotia in 1971-72.
HOFers Larry Robinson and GM Sam Pollock appear along with Lambert in this team issued official photo of the 1972 Calder Cup champion Nova Scotia Voyageurs. Future Habs Murray Wilson, Chuck Lefley, Chuck Arnason, Michel Plasse and Wayne Thomas also appear in the faded 10 ½" x 13 ½" color photo mounted in its original 17 ½" x 21 ½" wood frame.
