Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

Leading the Blueshirts in scoring in 1966-67 with 61 points netted in 70 games, Phil Goyette would spend a total of six seasons in Manhattan with the New York Rangers, with the Lady Byng earned in his first season in St Louis, in 1969-70. From the 1966-67 season, Goyette’s fourth in New York, we have a stick used by the star and team-signed by the Rangers. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Goyette” is stamped over the upper shaft with “20” handwritten, with the original black tape in place over the blade and handle. Covered with an even layer of shellac to preserve the signatures, 23 have signed in dark marker including Goyette, along with HOF members Gilbert, Howell, Ratelle, Giacomin and coach Francis. The signatures stand out wonderfully, with nice use exhibited on the stick, with marks over the lower shaft and a few cracks to the blade.
The additional signers include Marshall (signed three times), Nevin, Kurtenbach, Ingarfield, Fleming, Neilson, Hillman, Brown, Hicke, Berenson, MacNeil and Cesare Maniago. We should also note a hole drilled into the shaft, most likely from a prior mounting.
