Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Issued in both Maroons and Canadiens programs sold at the Montreal Forum during the 1934-35 NHL season, we have a collection of 16 Sweet Caporal photo inserts, with each a member of the famous Montreal Canadiens. At approx 6 ¾” x 9 ½”, each French-language premium feature’s a wonderful colour photo, with biographical information over the reverse. Complete at 48, our 16 include HOFers Aurel Joliat and Sylvio Mantha, along with Pit Lepine (2), Armand Mondou, netminder Wilf Cude and others, with a few duplicates present. Overall, the inserts remain in pleasing condition with brilliant colours, ideal for display, with just expected handling/corner wear along with the odd crease or stain.
The additional players included are Wildore Larochelle (2), Marcel Raymond (2), Nels Crutchfield, Gerald Carson, Jack McGill, Jack Riley, Roger Jenkins and Georges Mantha. The Joliat sports a crease over the upper left corner, while one of the Lepine photos has been outlined in pencil with resulting indentation. Lastly, one Carson has tape along the right border and at the corners, with one Raymond photo also showing tape at each side and the top and bottom. Lastly, the second Lepine photo and the Georges Mantha both have small pieces of clear tape over the reverse.
