Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Antique hockey items that witnessed life at the close of the Victorian era are highly sought and seldom found, with scarcity compounded for those relics that served as the highest quality specimens of their day. We have an absolutely wonderful example, with an exceptional turn of the century one-piece hockey stick. At 45” in length, a deep red finish has been applied from the top of the shaft to just above the heel section, with the blade finished in dark black paint. Five black striping accents have also been added, spread fairly evenly along the length of the shaft. Very similar in style to the Truro Lifter associated with the Ottawa Senators that we sold previously with a matching oval-shaped concave to each side of the blade, the stick is also reminiscent of the “Boy’s Painted Red” model sold for years by Salyerds. A custom-made display/carry case for the stick will accompany.
Completely solid with nice wear including a minor crack along the underside, some of the black finish has worn from the blade, with the stick in overall beautiful original and untouched condition. The 56” x 13” x 3” case is made of solid wood with gold-coloured metal hardware.
