Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
One of hockey’s most fabled venues, Boston Garden first opened its doors to the Beantown sporting community in 1928, housing the Bruins for almost seven decades before being bulldozed in 1998. We have a highly desirable single orange seat from the Garden, with this example signed by 14 past Bruins legends including Rick Middleton and Ken Linseman. At 32” in height, the solid orange seat features the original cast construction with inserted wooden slats, with “8” stenciled in white along the top of the seat back along with a gold-coloured plaque mounted listing the particulars. Freestanding and exhibiting thorough wear to the original finish, all 14 have signed the top slat in black marker, with the signatures displaying well. We should also note that the top slat was removed to accommodate the signings, with this piece later re-installed.
As mentioned, heavy wear to the original surface paint is visible over both the slats and steel sides, with the fold-down seat fully operational. Other signers include Dave Shaw, John Carter, Glen Featherstone, Cleon Daskalakis and Frank Simonetti.
