Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

For the second straight time around and from the same consignor comes a somewhat bewildering set of 1952-53 Parkhurst cards, the majority of which are in crease-free condition, but with seldom-seen flaws. Although numerous cards feature EX-MT and NM characteristics, including pleasing original colors, the edges strike the beholder. Most cards have uneven cuts, with obvious not-straight edges, or diamond cuts. It's as though they were amateurishly cut from an uncut sheet, with various sizes present and oftentimes measuring short or narrow or, in the case of a few star cards, over-sized. Cards of 88-Gordie Howe, 10-Dickie Moore RC and 53-Delvecchio are wider than a “normal” ’52-53 Parkie, with the aforementioned uneven edges, both left and right. Similar not-straight left and right edges are observed on the important #1 card of Maurice Richard, while the 86-Sawchuk example, like the Richard, appears to be the correct size but with an obvious diamond cut. The key Tim Horton rookie card features thin borders and would definitely be considered trimmed, with a crease also to mention. We cannot measure and inspect every individual card; some may "pass", but we'd have to again say buyer beware with this offering. Please see our website for additional photos.
