Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Their first return to World Series play after the infamous 1919 scandal twenty years earlier, the Cincinnati Reds would be meeting that high-powered machine from the Bronx that had just won the previous three Fall Classics, as some would note, with ease. The Series, not surprisingly, would go just the four required games, with the Reds only able to average a pair of runs in each contest. This would be the Yankees fourth consecutive World Series championship, and 8th in franchise history. We have a program for the Series hailing from Yankee Stadium, and it remains un-scored. At 8 ¾” x 11 ¼”, the substantial program features an image of The Iron Horse in full swing on the cover, with a muted Yankee Stadium background. The program remains complete including the line-ups, with surface wear to the cover including some light creasing along with additional wear to the spine. The wear is repeated on the reverse, with the interior remaining fairly clean.
