Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
Our consignor's captivating unopened wax pack collection continues here with a 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee 2nd Series representative, the likes of which wielded All-Star and trophy winner cards that captivated kids back in the day, (weren't the black backgrounds of the All-Stars cool?!), with Bobby Orr's four trophy cards and a Terry Sawchuk memorial card joining rookie cards of Bobby Clarke and Darryl Sittler among the most valuable nowadays. The front of 2nd Series packs included an image of Gordie Howe (that was not included in the insert set), with the wrapper falsely hailing "A Real Autographed Photo in Every Pack" and referring to the Deckle Edge inserts that featured facsimile autographs. Eight cards, a Deckle Edge card and a piece of gum could be had for ten cents, with an Art Ross Trophy card visible on the bottom of the pack here, graded NM 7 by GAI. Some might recall busting packs like this and then weeks later watching Ken Dryden's Stanley Cup playoff heroics - oh, what a time.
