Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Creamy durene jersey worn by Canadiens star Yvan Cournoyer during the 1978 All-Star Game held in Buffalo, New York. The Roadrunner was rewarded with four 2nd Team All-Star selections over his career but played in a number of additional games representing the Habs. This style, worn for a few seasons, sports the crest of the National Hockey League on the chest with two smaller shields on orange tackle twill stars on each breast. Two additional NHL shields up on the shoulder made certain the players would not be mistaken for members of a rival league. Yvan's uniform has his surname sewn-on in individual letters (no plate) with the number 14 on the back. Heavy knit with the Gerry Cosby tag in collar and the size 46 tag sewn just above, all crests, numbers and stars are sewn-on. These durene All-Star gamers are stunning!
Just light wear is visible on the important vintage sweater, with a small slit just above the right cuff, along with small marks over the reverse numbers and left elbow.
