Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Hailing from a Stanley Cup championship season that witnessed Yvan Cournoyer lead the NHL in playoff goals with 15 – more than enough to garner the important Conn Smythe – we have a signed stick used by The Roadrunner during the 1972-73 campaign. A Sher-Wood Pattern Made PMP model, “Cournoyer” and “12” appear stamped-on, with a stamp from supplier “McNiece’s” near the top of the shaft. The original tape is in place over the blade and custom-shaved knob, with both striping accents intact. A date stamp of “26 Oct 1972” appears along the underside, with great wear exhibited to both the blade and shaft. Yvan has added an especially large black marker signature across the front side heel section adding “HOF 1982”, and the signature displays wonderfully.
Cournoyer would complete the 1972-73 regular season with 79 points including 40 goals in just 67 games.
