Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Scoring a hefty 127 playoff points throughout his HOF career including 64 goals, Yvan Cournoyer captured the coveted Conn Smythe and led the NHL in postseason scoring during the Montreal Canadiens 1972-73 Stanley Cup championship. The offered stick was used by Cournoyer during the 1972-73 NHL season. A Sher-Wood PMP model with “Cournoyer” and “12” stamped to the upper shaft along with "McNiece’s" supplier stamps to both side of the shaft, the original black tape is in place on the blade and shaved knob. There is also a date stamp of “20 Mar 1973” to the underside, and with just six games left in the season when this stick was manufactured, it is definitely possible that it was used during the 1973 playoffs. Just very light game-use is exhibited on the vintage lumber, with a bit of wear to the shaft and to the taped blade at the heel.
