This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
A veteran of 946 games played in the National Hockey League, Wilf Paiement would suit up on three (3) occasions for Team Canada at the IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships between 1977 and 1978, helping the country to a bronze medal victory in 1978 by contributing seven (7) points in ten (10) games played throughout the tournament. Offered here, we present this collection of memorabilia pertaining to Wilf's time as both a member of the national team in the late-1970s and as a member of the Quebec Nordiques of the NHL. Headlined by a beautiful vase that measures roughly 15" high and was presented to Paiement at the 1979 edition of the IIHF's premier tournament, the piece, made of ceramic, features a blue and gold coloured floral design while the 1979 IIHF World Championships logo, hosted in Moscow, graces one side while Cyrillic text is found on the other. With makers marks stamped over the bottom as well as a "1979" year designation, accompanying the vase is Paiement's Team Canada training jacket and t-shirt. With the jacket a zip-up offering made by Adidas that has Team Canada's logo screened over the right breast, an Adidas patch is sewn over the left one while a size "L" tag is found affixed to the inner collar though partially detached. For the shirt, a white coloured piece with red and white ringer cuffs, the same multi-coloured Team Canada logo is screened over the front, with the piece made by made by Sandow SK though the size tag is completely washed out. Both pieces look to be closer to size small's or medium by todays standards and remain in excellent condition overall. Additionally, also included with the lot is the O'Keefe Cup presented to Paiement in February of 1984 when he was name the Quebec Nordiques player of the month. Measuring roughly 9" tall, the bowl has come apart from the black wooden base but is still included along with the original mounting hardware. Displaying a blue felt bottom and decorated in the middle of the base all the way around with metal discs displaying various hockey scenes, a silver band at the top has had "Coupe O'Keefe" engraved into it while another at the bottom reads "Joueur du Mois - Fevrier 1984". Accompanied by an LOA signed by Paiement himself and despite the bottom coming away from the base, the piece is in good condition with some light age and handling wear observed to the edges of the base along with some scratches/pitting and tarnishing to the metal plates and bowl which appears heaviest on the bowl itself.
