The greatest player to ever grace the game of hockey throughout its entire history, Wayne Gretzky would suit up for a total of nine (9) years to the tune of 696 games with the Edmonton Oilers in the first portion of his career, registering a total of 583 goals, 1086 assists and 1669 points over that time and leading the Oilers to a quartet of Stanley Cup championships. Racking up goals like nobody's business, including a total of 92 during the 1981-82 campaign and 71 the year after, offered here is this puck used by Gretzky to score the 200th goal of his National Hockey League career. With the monumental event occurring on October 9th, 1982 on the road in Vancouver against the Canucks, the marker would be Wayne's first of two (2) goals in a game that would eventually end in a 6-3 Oilers victory. Coming at the the 12:09 mark of the 2nd period against Richard Brodeur, the goal would be assisted by Edmonton teammates, Jaroslav Pouzar and Kevin Lowe. A correct Viceroy made slug for the InGlasCo Corporation that had been approved for NHL use, the puck has been wrapped with white tape that has had notations reading "Oct. 9 at Van, Win 6-3, 200 Gretzky" penned over the top in either black or red ink that has faded with time while the tape itself has yellowed as well. Showing good evidence of game use through various scratches, scuffs and other abrasions to the surfaces, the puck hails from the archive of the Oilers and is accompanied by an LOA signed by one of the two (2) men who helped set up the goal, then Oilers General Manager, Kevin Lowe.
