Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
The preferred weapon of choice by the man known as "The Great One" during the era that was the early-to-mid-1990s when he was making hockey an everyday topic in Los Angeles and other unconventional hockey markets, Wayne Gretzky would play a total of 539 games with the Kings over the course of eight (8) years and register 246 goals and 672 assists for a total of 918 points. Still holding or sharing fifty-eight (58) National Hockey League records, offered here is this stick used by Gretzky in the era of the early-1990s, either in the later portion of the 1990-91 campaign or early on in 1991-92. An Easton Aluminum HXP 5100 model shaft with inserted Easton brand blade, "Gretzky" factory graphics over the upper shaft while "Gretzky" has also been stamped over the blade stem as well. Void of any tape over the blade but sporting Wayne's patented "Jack the Gripper" over the handle/knob, it is worth mentioning that no handwritten code appears on top of the knob but there is photographic evidence out there of Wayne using none coded sticks in the time period this one is from.
