Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Forever remembered for assisting Mario Lemieux’s legendary Canadian goal, the 1987 Canada Cup witnessed Wayne Gretzky and friends defeat the Soviets in three games, with The Great One receiving tournament MVP honours. Hailing from the incomparable holdings of Gretzky collector extraordinaire Shawn Chaulk, we have a stick used by Wayne in the tournament, and it’s been signed by both Wayne and Bobby Hull. A Titan TPM 2020 model in solid white with red accents, “W. Gretzky” is stamped-on, with “99” handwritten just beneath along with a date code on the underside that translates to “August 7th 1987”. The important stick retains its black tape on the blade including baby powder residue, along with green gauze over white on the handle and knob. Wayne and Bobby have both added ballpoint signatures to the lower shaft with Bobby adding “1987”. An LOA from Mr. Chaulk will accompany.
Great use is shown, with wear to the blade along with marks to the lower shaft. Both signatures remain bold, with no loss or fading.
