Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux have each signed this fantastic goal celebration photo from the 1987 Canada Cup. Lemieux has signed above Soviet goalie Evegeny Belosheikin, who allowed the Magnificent One’s double-overtime winner in the second game of the final. Gretzky, who set up the goal, has signed across the white part of his red Team Canada socks in this glorious 16" x 20" photo. The Great One has also signed each of the five pucks that make up this lot, including a blue marker autograph on the face of a Chicago Stadium 1991 All-Star Game puck. Gretzky has signed in black marker the face of a 1994 Madison Square Garden All-Star Game puck, and his silver sharpie autograph adorns a 1993 Montreal Forum All-Star Game puck, a Tampa Bay 1999 All-Star Game Viceroy slug, and a "the great one retires" Czech slug with the date of his April 18, 1999 swan song at Madison Square Garden. Five Gretzky pucks and an amazing Canada Cup photo signed by the Great One and Mario le Magnifique.
