Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Incredible opportunity is this Wayne Gretzky 1987-88 Oilers Nike game jersey, identical in every way to the one worn by the Great One during his last season in Edmonton. Wayne claimed his second Conn Smythe Trophy as he led the Oilers to their fourth Stanley Cup before the blockbuster trade that sent him to the L.A. Kings. This blue mesh Nike jersey is an original and vintage uniform obtained from the Edmonton Oilers and Alberta Crest Art, the team's official sewers back in 1988. Alberta Crest Art applied all of the cresting, numbering and lettering and it is correct, vintage and original to the jersey. This style of jersey was not available to the public and produced by the team after a request from a person of significant standing in the hockey community, as detailed in the accompanying letter of authenticity. A small white flag tag with "WG" noted in ink sits above the Nike size XL flag tag in the back of the neck. Nike logo is screened on the left rear tail and the captain's C is sewn on the left breast. Preserved in spectacular condition, it comes with a detailed LOA from Brad Foote of Icehouse outlining the provenance.
