Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
First appearing in the 1932 Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey’s Revue” as Dippy Dawg, Goofy was featured most commonly with the trio of Mickey and Donald Duck, with the loveable mutt staring in over 50 theatrical solo short films, 6 theatrical Donald and Goofy cartoons and 7 movie cameos. This lot offers a pair of framed Disney displays featuring Goofy from the 1944 Walt Disney Studios release “How to Play Golf”, with a Serigraph Cel limited to 9,500 copies, along with a Sericel entitled “Goofy Golfer” produced in 1995 and limited to 5,000 editions. First, the Sericel is approx 10” x 13” (exposed), and pictures Goofy amid a pile of clubs, with a seal from Disney over the lower right. Double-matted and framed to approx 17 ½” x 20 ½”, an LOA from The Walt Disney Company listing the particulars is inserted into a folder on the reverse. The Serigraph Cel is also 10” x 13” (exposed), with Goofy prancing through the jungle with golf bag in tow, with a Disney “Limited Edition Serigraph” seal over the bottom right along with a signature from legendary animator Marc Davis. Double-matted and framed to 16 ½” x 19 ½”, Disney “Certification” is affixed to the reverse, and we should note heavier wear and minor damage to the frames.
