Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Exceptionally stunning and vibrant, we have a wondrous hockey study serigraph proof by noted artist Mark King entitled “Hot Ice”, with this attractive creation most likely hailing from the 1970s. At approx 24 ½” x 34” and with a textured surface, King expertly details a fluid hockey scene, awash with bright impressionistic colouration. The artist has signed in pencil over the lower right, with the serigraph marked "2nd Trial Proof VII/X", which indicates it is number 7 of only 10 "2nd Trial Proofs". There is some corner/surface wear along with a small edge tear, with the serigraph in otherwise beautiful condition.
Mark King leads a wildly exciting life, having come of age in Bombay during the explosive last days of the British Raj. King has carried with him the richly detailed images of tropical India, going on to complete an impressive art education at Paris` famous Ecole Des Beaux Arts and the Louvre! King`s exquisitely lush Impressionist masterpieces are a joyous celebration of mother nature’s creations - from giant elephants to delicate flowers. King's works are highly collectible.
