Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
May we help you find your seat at the old Maple Leaf Gardens? These dignified items were worn by an usher at the venerable arena, the longtime home of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1932 to 1999. For those lucky enough to have a ticket to see a hockey game, sporting event, concert or show, there was an usher dressed with this type of jacket, cardigan and hat. Starting with the jacket, a navy blue two-button offering sporting a "117" patch sewn inside the reverse neckline that has had "Ron" penned to in in blue ballpoint pen ink, a small sewn repair is seen next to the patch while a size "44" label is affixed to the inside pocket. Decorated over the left breast with a Maple Leafs patch that has had "Maple Leaf Gardens" embroidered into it, another patch reading "Usher" is sewn on above. In terms of condition, the piece is still extremely presentable with just a small handful of small tears observed to the interior lining along with a couple small stains. For the cardigan, a blue and white coloured ensemble with a size large label affixed to the inner collar, "DM" has been penned in black marker on the underside of the tag and a Toronto Maple Leafs patch has been added over the left breast. Remaining in overall good condition with the white areas now slightly yellowed from age, there are some pills and pulls throughout as well as a small hole at the right side of the collar from seam separation. Finally, for the hat, made by The Muir Cap & Regalia Ltd. but missing its label on the interior, "562" is embroidered into the front while a size label reading "7" (56) is found under plastic on the inner lining. Remaining in excellent condition, a couple of tiny spot stains are present over the top
