Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A veteran of 248 National Hockey League games with the likes of the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers, Don Simmons would win three (3) straight Stanley Cups as a member of the Maple Leafs between 1962 and 1964 while also being named an All-Star in 1963, registering 15 wins in 28 games played. Offered here, we present this circa 1960 photograph of Simmons as a member of the Boston Bruins that has also been signed by him. Capturing Simmons making a save against Frank Mahovlich and Gerry Ehman, both members of his future team, the Maple Leafs, in a contest at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, the image measures slightly smaller than 9" x 7" and has been signed by Simmons underneath his image with a modern thin blue ink signature that displays without issse. Featuring an Associated Press stamp over the reverse, the image shows corner/edge wear as well as creases to the corners, some warping along the bottom edge and what seems to be a large cut extending down from the top edge plus a stain on the backside. With the Simmons signature certified by PSA/DNA as being "Authentic", the photo itself is housed in a PSA holder that displays light wear via some minor scratches and scuffs that are worth noting for accuracy.
