Originally born in Montreal and playing his junior hockey as a member of the Laval Voisins/TItans franchise in the QMJHL, Vincent Damphousse would be selected 6th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Selected to NHL All-Star Games in 1991, 1992, 2001 and 2002 and finding himself a cog in the wheel of his hometown team for seven (7) seasons, including their Stanley Cup championship year of 1992-93, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens jersey donned by Damphousse during the 1996-97 season. Made by CCM and sporting a lone size "56" fly tag affixed to the inner collar, both the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with Montreal's famed "CH" crest in layered tackle twill, the distinguished captain's "C" is in place over the left breast, with the title taken over by Damphousse following an early season trade that sent Pierre Turgeon to St. Louis. With evidence of the formerly applied alternate captain's "A" visible underneath the "C", the sleeves and verso of the garment have had Vincent's number "25" sewn to them in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals while "Damphousse" is spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the reverse. Displaying just light game-wear via a few light stick marks scattered throughout the front of the garment, some light spot stains are present over the front hem and reverse while some fraying is found at the top of the "2" on the right sleeve. A Canadiens LOA signed by Rejean Houle will accompany the piece.
