Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
From his career-high season of 50 goals in 1971-72 – a season that also witnessed the beginning of his captaincy for the New York Rangers – we have a 14K gold ring that was presented to superstar Vic Hadfield for his participation in the 1972 NHL All-Star Game. Held on Jan 25th in Bloomington Minnesota in front of over 15,000 enthusiastic fans, the East Division slipped past the West 3-2, with Bobby Orr named the game’s MVP. Size 9 with an approx. weight of 22 grams, a cornflower-blue oval stone sits centered over the face, with an engraved NHL shield logo over one shank, and “All Star 1972” shield over the other. With the inner band stamped "14K O-S" and "LX", Hadfield’s initials have also been engraved in attractive script, with heavy wear present as the keepsake was obviously worn with pride, with numerous scratches throughout along with wear to both shank engravings, including surface loss of the applied black finish. A signed LOA from Mr Hadfield will accompany this diminutive treasure.
