Spending 7 of his 10 seasons in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils, Valeri Zelepukin would win a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1995. Spending time in Philadelphia, Edmonton and Chicago Zelepukin would play his final National Hockey League season in 2000-01 with the Chicago Blackhawks. From his swan song season, we offer this Blackhawks jersey worn by Zelepukin during the 2000-01 season, including the 2000 Hockey Hall of Fame game on November 11th, 2000 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Featuring size “54” and “Made in Canada” fly tags affixed to the inner collar, a KOHO crest is sewn to the reverse neckline while the NHL shield has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with the team's crest having chain-stitched details, the Blackhawks 75th anniversary patch is affixed over the right breast with the HHOF Game patch over the left. With matching chain-stitched tomahawk crests over each shoulder, the sleeves and verso have had Zelepukin’s number “29” sewn to them in dual layer tackle-twill numerals. “Zelepukin” is spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer white twill letters. The jersey shows great game-use, light stick marks are seen over the sleeves and body while the sleeves exhibit numerous team repairs and board burns near each cuff. Additional board burns are seen at each shoulder with a team repair over the right one and on the reverse under the fight strap. The interior of the jersey shows a fight strap with evidence of numerous washings as well as pilling at the armpits, a handwritten “1” behind the NHL shield (for set 1) and a Hawksquarters sticker. A team LOA will accompany the jersey.
Of note, the Blackhawks continued wearing these set 1 jerseys after the HHOF game with the patches removed and retained by the team. The patch present on this one was reattached after purchase from the Blackhawks.
