Red Wings goalie Ty Conklin made his third straight start in an NHL outdoor game at the 2009 Winter Classic. Conklin was in goal for Edmonton in the Heritage Classic in 2003 and Pittsburgh in the inaugural Winter Classic in Buffalo before Detroit ushered in 2009 with a 6-4 win over Chicago at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Day. Conklin wore this retro-style jersey with the old English “D” sewn on the front in white tackle twill and the Winged Wheel crest on each shoulder during the first period. The 2009 Winter Classic patch is sewn on the right breast. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2008-2009 Season patch sewn inside the rear tail has registry number “F04883” that appears on the accompanying LOA.
Goalie style and size 58 flag tags are in the back of the collar, which has “2” screened in red vinyl within the red-thread stitching outline of the Reebok patch sewn above the nameplate on the back.
Game wear includes a small black mark on the front of the left shoulder, a few light marks on the back of the lower right sleeve, and a couple of light marks on the back of the lower left sleeve. There are three small reddish-brown spot stains on the front tail.
