Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Arguably the most popular team in hockey… or is it Montreal? We have a great pair of vintage Toronto Maple Leafs documents, highlighted by signatures on each from HOF builder Conn Smythe. Included, we have a 1950 Standard Assignment Agreement for Edward Plata, with his services lent to the Pittsburgh Hockey Club for the princely sum of $1.00. Stamped by the Central Registy, Smythe has signed near the bottom right in bold blue ink, and the signature stands out well. The second document is a 1946 ‘Agreement’ between Lawrie May and the Maple Leafs, with amounts listed to be paid by the latter if the former is assigned to certain leagues. Smythe has signed the roughly 8 ½” x 11” ‘Agreement’ along the bottom right in blue ink, and the signature displays nicely with no issues. Both documents exhibit expected handling wear and toning with a few wrinkles, with the ‘Agreement’ folded along the bottom quarter.
