Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
Hoisting Lord Stanley’s coveted trophy 13 times throughout it’s history, the Toronto Maple Leafs earned the first back-to-back championships during the mid-1940s, with an additional period in the 1960s that witnessed the franchise win the Stanley Cup four times in just six seasons. This lot offers original Leafs team photos from Stanley Cup championship seasons. Totaling seven with each in the 8” x 10” range, the bulk of the images were produced by noted lensman Turofsky –with his familiar purple stamp on each reverse, with a single photo from Toronto’s Alexandra Studios. Images are present for 1931-32 (player’s names handwritten), 1941-42 (player’s names handwritten), 1944-45 (player’s names handwritten), 1946-47, 1947-48, 1947-1948-1949, and 1950-51. Each photo has residue to the reverse corners from scrapbook removal, with each also sporting moderate wear including toning along with the odd crease or clipped corner.
