With rock hard Red Horner earning almost twice as many penalty minutes as Busher Jackson’s team-leading 53 points, the Toronto Maple Leafs finished the 1931-32 NHL season in second behind the traditional-rival Montreal Canadiens. The blue and white defeated the Lester Patrick-led New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup final, with this the first championship as the “Maple Leafs”. Featuring the historic 1931-32 championship club, we offer a pair of photo displays including an original Vi-Tone counter top advertising standee, accompanied by a colourized composite team photo from Toronto’s famous Alexandra Studios. The V-Tone display is approx 11 ¾” x 13 ½” and constructed of thick cardboard, with full images of the entire roster and management, with “Vi-Tone” along the top in red. The reverse sports an intact and unused easel, with a stamp from Super Art Company. The colourized photo is 7” x 9” and affixed to an 8” x 10 ½” backing, with the club featured in the traditional team pose, with “Alexandra Studios” over the bottom right.
The V-Tone display presents wonderfully, with a fairly clean surface and toning, with tape added to the upper right corner, and the bottom right corner trimmed. There are also a few creases visible, including over the bottom left corner. The Alexandra Studios photo exhibits just toning, with a bit of wear to the image over the upper right corner.
