Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
An expansion club founded in 1977 and originally based at Exhibition Stadium, the Toronto Blue Jays have claimed six East Division titles along with a pair of World Series championships during their MLB tenure thus far. This lot contains a collection of 10 bats used by Blue Jays players, along with signed, game-issued Roberto Alomar and Paul Molitor bats. We have models from Louisville, Cooper, Marucci, Rawlings and others, with most having the players name over the barrel and number written over the knob, with varying degrees of game use exhibited within the collection. We should also note that a number of bats would have been used with other clubs. Highlights include bats used by Melky Cabrera (Sam the Bat, cracked handle), Brett Lawrie (BWP, cracked, accompanied by “1st Hit” and “1st HR” ticket stubs for Lawrie from 2011) and Vernon Wells (Sam the Bat, cracked).
The additional bats in the collection include Ryan Goins (Marucci, cracked), Dioner Navarro (Rawlings, cracked/broken in several places), Marco Scutaro (cracked), John Buck (Marucci, cracked/broken in several places), Pedro Swann (Louisville, cracked handle, used with Atlanta Braves), Lyle Overbay (Louisville, cracked) and one other. The Molitor and Alomar issued bats have both been signed over the barrel, Molitor in gold, Alomar in silver, with the signatures presenting nicely. We should also note that the Molitor bat (early-to-mid-1990s) is marked with a “3” on the knob as opposed to Molitor’s “4” or “19”, and considering that all Molitor game-used bats have his uniform number on the knob, this example with light game use exhibited is being sold as simply a pro model bat signed by Paul Molitor.
