Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
A snow-covered field at Exhibition Stadium and two homers by first baseman Doug Ault made the Toronto Blue Jays’ Major League debut a memorable one. Bill Singer threw the Jays’ first pitch on April 7, 1977, and Toronto was on its way in the American League. Ault provided the heroics for the hometown team in the Jays’ 9-5 win over the Chicago White Sox and their throwback black uniforms. A crowd of 44,649 braved the wintry conditions and this game stub from the Blue Jays’ inaugural home game is a fantastic piece to behold for fans of the two-time World Series champion franchise. Recently graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, it displays wonderfully with beautiful colors, “Opening Day” notation along with the venue, seat and the $6.50 purchase price. Only five such ticket stubs have been graded by PSA over the years with the offered example a pop-a second-highest graded. Let’s, play, ball!
