Led by third-year head coach Don Shula, the Miami Dolphins went a perfect 14-0 throughout the 1972 NFL season, leading the league in both points scored and points allowed. The Dolphins would win all three postseason games including Super Bowl VII to become the first and only team in history to achieve a complete undefeated season. This stunning 1972 Miami Dolphins Super Bowl VII championship 14K gold and diamond ring was presented to former player Tom Keane, who served as an assistant coach with the Dolphins for many years, and was the team's defensive backs coach in 1972.
Size 11 1/2 with an approx weight of 45 grams, a large diamond sits centered within a circular setting over a synthetic sapphire on the tableau flanked by "19" and "72", with "Miami Dolphins" above in slanted raised letters, and "World Champions" below. The sapphire is also encircled with 16 diamonds. The right shank has a raised Dolphins logo with "Keane" above and "Winning Edge" below, while the left shank sports the Vince Lombardi Trophy with "17-0" and "Perfect Season" below, and "Super Bowl VII" with the score listed above. The inner band features the correct "Jostens 14K" stamped, with "Tom Keane" engraved in attractive script. Showing wear from use, there are numerous scratches over the band and shanks, with dings visible along edges of the band. The perfect companion piece to represent the only perfect season in history!
