Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
With roots going back to 1914 when it was founded as the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, Hockey Canada, the governing body of the game in the country, has over seen both the men's and women's national team programs at all levels, with both currently ranked as number one (1) in the world based on the current IIHF rankings. Having won gold medals at all levels of play throughout its entire history, offered here is this Team Canada goalie mask worn by a netminder that played with an unspecified National Team circa 2011. A Bauer model with a pewter colour cage over the front of the mask and all the padding still present on the interior as well as the chin cup and sweat band, all the strapping remains intact and in place. Decorated over the entirety of the mask with a patriotic and symmetrical Team Canada design that features the Hockey Canada logo over the crown, "Canada" spelt out going across the jaw and heritage style maple leaf logos over the chin plus each side of the piece, it needs to be noted that this design was a generic one issued to goalies by Hockey Canada and is known to have been used on masks worn by Malcolm Subban at the 2011 IIHF U18 World Championships and Matthew Krahn at the 2010 IIHF World Junior "A" Challenge plus others. Showing use via a few puck marks throughout along with a few small chips around the edge of the shell, the mask remains in overall excellent condition and is housed in a cloth 4orte bag.
