Experiencing a 14 point improvement on their record from the previous season, the 2009-10 edition of the Tampa Bay Lightning saw Steven Stamkos lead both the team and league with 51 goals scored as he captured the first Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy of his career. From his 35th goal of the season and 58th of his young career is this goal puck that Stamkos tickled the twine with at 15:33 of the 1st period on February 14th, 2010 against the New York Rangers on the road at Madison Square Garden. The first goal of the game and first of a pair of points on the night for the young sniper, the power play goal would be assisted by both Ryan Malone and Steve Downie. Featuring a Rangers logo on one side with the NHL shield and facsimile signature of commissioner Gary Bettman on the other, the “official game puck” shows light surface wear with abrasions and light graphic wear present over both faces. Having had tape applied to the side with particulars handwritten in black marker ink including opponents, date, period, time, scoring team, scorer, and assists, a MeiGray hologram numbered "149903" is affixed to the NHL shield side and is accompanied by a matching LOA that lists the particulars as well while the puck is housed in a plastic case. Of note, the included LOA incorrectly lists the puck as being from the 2008-09 season.
