Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Perhaps the most popular Detroit Red Wing of all-time after Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman spent 22 glorious seasons in Motown, winning Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998 and 2002 along with a number of other awards. This Red Wings captain’s jersey was worn by the Cranbrook native in 2003-04. Size tagging appears along the collar with heat-pressed “1”, with embroidered KOHO and NHL crests on the back neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with the famous winged-wheel team crest, the solid red v-neck has been adorned with attractive tackle twill numbers and letters, with the back name sewn directly onto the jersey. The team stamp resides on the inside hem, denoting the garment as a “2nd Set” example. A COA from the Red Wings will accompany, along with a COR from MeiGray.
Game-wear includes marks on the lower front along with a large stick mark just above the lower front hem, with additional marks and board burns over each sleeve. There is also a second large stick marks across the “9” on verso, as well as 4 team repairs. A pair of repairs are visible over the right shoulder, with the other 2 situated over the right elbow.
