Playing with the University of New Hampshire in the Hockey East conference of the NCAA, Steve Leach would be drafted 34th overall by the Washington Capitals at the 1984 NHL Entry Draft and go on to a National Hockey League career that saw him play in 702 games for the likes of Washington, Boston, St. Louis, Carolina, Ottawa, Phoenix and Pittsburgh. Having represented the United States at the 1988 Olympic Games, offered here is this Penguins jersey worn by Leach during his swan song NHL season of 1999-2000. Made by Pro Player, brand labeling as well as a size "54" fly tag are affixed to the inner collar while the logos of Pro Player and the NHL have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Penguins team crest that features textured and embroidered details, the NHL2000 patch, worn by all teams during the season, is in place over the right breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Leach's "23" in dual layer black-over-yellow tackle twill numerals, "Leach" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting moderate game-wear, stick marks are seen over the front, reverse and both sleeves with the sleeves also showing wear in the form of coloured board paint transfers and board burns as well.
