Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Playing his junior hockey with both the Peterborough Petes and Niagara Falls Flyers of the OMJHL/OHL, Steve Larmer would go on to play a total of 1006 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers after being drafted 120th overall by Chicago at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. A Stanley Cup champion with the Rangers in 1994 and suiting up with Team Canada at the 1991 Canada Cup, offered here is this team-signed stick used by Larmer as a member of the Blackhawks during the 1991-92 season. A Sher-Wood S.O.P 5030 model with "Lamer 28" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of white cloth-over-white around the handle/knob and white around the blade. Also retaining its original foil accent sticker around the bottom of the shaft, the stick displays excellent game-wear through numerous puck marks, post paint transfer marks and other abrasions throughout its entirety while some cracks and missing material is present along the top and bottom edges of the blade. Painted white over one side of the shaft to facilitate the signatures, which have all been signed in black marker ink that displays well despite their age, approximately seventeen (17) have signed the stick, including HOFers Jeremey Roenick, Ed Belfour, Michel Goulet and Chris Chelios plus others.
