This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Having already been dubbed "The Next One" by the time he was selected 1st overall by the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL, Sidney Crosby would play a pair of seasons with the club, recording 303 points in only 121 regular season games played. Capturing the Jean Béliveau Trophy as the league's leading point-scorer in 2003-04. He was further recognized with the RDS/JVC Trophy (overall rookie of the year) and Michel Brière Memorial Trophy (most valuable player), becoming the first QMJHL player to win all three major awards at once. Leading the Oceanic to a Memorial Cup Finals appearance during the 2004-05 season, offered here is this collection of memorabilia signed by Crosby during his junior career with the Oceanic including a pair of 2003-04 ticket stubs and a copy of "Espoirs du Hockey" (Hockey Prospects) magazine. Starting with the ticket stubs, dating from a February 8th, 2004 contest between Crosby and the Oceanic and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in Rouyn-Noranda, the stubs show information including the date, teams, venue, price and seat information over their fronts. Both in overall good condition but showing wear to the corners and edges of both, Crosby has signed over the front of each with blue marker ink signatures that display well though it is worth pointing out that both show light fading/smudging that is worth pointing out for accuracy. For the magazine, the QMJHL Edition that was released in the Fall of 2003, the book shows Crosby over the cover in his white Oceanic uniform with the notation "Dynamite en herbes - Kid Dynamite" as well. Totalling out to 64 pages and remaining in excellent condition with light handling wear observed, Crosby has signed over the cover to the left of his head with a blue marker ink signature that displays well with light fading from age. Lastly, also included with the lot is a mini-stick from the 2004 IIHF World Junior Championship in Finland, tournament graphics are displayed over one side of the shaft while Crosby along with Marc-Andre Fleury have signed over the blade with black marker ink signatures that display well and show only very light fading while the stick overall is also in excellent condition with just light wear from handling observed. All hailing from the personal collection of former Team Canada team physician, Dr. Michel Parayre, his signed LOA will accompany the lot.
