Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
The 8th overall pick of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Shayne Corson would play a total of 1,156 games in his National Hockey League career, being named to the All-Star Game in 1990, 1994 and 1998 while also representing his native Canada on numerous occasions. Offered here, we present this Team Canada jersey worn by Corson during the 1985 IIHF World Junior Championships in Finland where he recorded five (5) points in seven (7) games played as Canada claimed its second (2nd) gold medal at the event. Made by Cooper, brand, size "Extra Large" and CAHA labels are all affixed to the inner collar while a Cooper emblem has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a screened on Team Canada crest, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Corson's number "9" in single layer red coloured satin twill numerals while the nameplate that was once in place over the upper reverse has long since been removed. Void of a fight strap on the interior of the shirt, the jersey shows excellent game-wear via stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, red board paint transfer marks over both sleeves, board burns/unrepaired holes over the right sleeve and minor spot stains/general filth from use and age throughout, the interior of the jersey also shows good pilling in the sleeves that is worth mentioning for accuracy. Regarding the photo and video-matches, the jersey is matched to images and screen captures from the tournament which show a match to the dark black marks over Corson's right forearm.
