Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

Featuring arguably the best team that Canada has ever assembled, as the bench was loaded with future HOF talent including Bobby Clarke, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito, Bob Gainey, Bobby Hull, Guy Lafleur, Guy Lapointe, Bobby Orr, Gilbert Perreault, Denis Potvin and others, the 1976 Canada Cup included the world's six best hockey nations, with each team playing a five-game round robin format. Canada met Czechoslovakia in a best-of-three final, with the mighty maple leaf taking both matches and claiming the title. This ticket was produced for the Sept 7 match between Canada and Sweden at Maple Leaf Gardens. Won by Canada 4-0, with Rogie Vachon earning the shutout, the ticket has been signed by the scorer of the winning goal, legendary superstar Bobby Hull. Listing the venue and date along with seat, section and row, Hull has signed in black marker, with the signature flawless. There is some wear including creases, with a hole punched most likely to show admission. While any tickets from the tournament rarely surface, this example augmented with the signature of a now-deceased superstar arguably viewed as one of the greatest players of all-time is a must for any patriotic Canadian collector!
