A veteran of 524 National Hockey League contests between the Colorado Rockies and Vancouver Canucks, Ron Delorme would also be drafted 35th overall by the Denver Spurs of the WHA in 1975 and play a total of twenty-two (22) games for the ill-fated club during their lone season of play. Instrumental in breaking barriers for Indigenous people in professional sport and currently serving as the chief amateur scout for his former club, the Canucks, offered here we have this extremely rare single-season Spurs jersey worn by Delorme in 1975-76, the club's only season of play. First wearing recycled jerseys from the 1974-75 CHL Spurs at the beginning of the season, these second set jerseys were worn later, and until the club folded (after a two-game stint as the Ottawa Civics). Featuring Wilson and BH labels displaying a size "48" designation affixed to the inner collar with no additional tagging present, the front of the jersey has been decorated with a beautiful Spurs team crest in layered tackle twill that features chain-stitched embroidery throughout. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Delorme's number "11" in dual layer orange-over-black tackle twill numerals, the seldomly seen original white twill nameplate is affixed across the top of the reverse, displaying "Delorme" spelt out across it in matching dual layer orange-over-black tackle twill letters. With the garter style fight strap having been cut out of the jersey's interior, the garment shows battle scars in the form of stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves while red coloured board paint transfers are observed over the front hem and near the left cuff. With fraying and light separation seen around the orange layer of the Spurs team crest on the front, a small unrepaired hole exists near the left elbow with light pilling found on the interior as well. A true beauty from the days of the "rival league", the Spurs/Civics' 41-game existence made them the shortest-lived franchise in WHA history.
