Seeing action in the NHL, IHL and AHL, Robb Stauber’s main NHL stint occurred with Los Angeles, where he was chosen by the Kings 107th overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. The Duluth Minnesota native would play in over 50 NHL games spread chiefly across the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons. This mask was worn by Stauber during his time in LA from 1993-95, and it’s been photo-matched.
Designed by Ed Cubberly, the mask has been styled in LA colours of black, white and silver, with the original padding and strapping intact. Featuring a crowned king along the top portion, each side contains silver spades with centralized C’s carved out. “Stauber” appears handwritten on the interior shell, with the original white face mask intact. The mask has been photo-matched to the small white chip on the right ear side between Cubberly's "C" and the back edge, and to the chip on the forehead.
The mask exhibits nice use, with numerous marks and abrasions present, including along edges, the top portion and at the bottom of the chin. The mask also shows areas with rust, including along joints and over the inserted screws at the top and bottom portion. The interior also exhibits some sweat staining.
Stauber is currently the propeiter of “Stauber’s Goalcrease”, a unique training facility began in 2002 that caters to goaltending with an ice rink and pro shop along with a team of professional goaltending consultants. Stauber has also contributed to the USA Women's National Hockey Team program, acting as goalie coach during the 2014 Winter Olympics.
