A product of the Ontario Hockey Association's Kingston Canadiens, Rob Plumb would go on to play a total of fourteen (14) games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings after being selected by them 163rd overall at the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. Winning an IHL Championship with the Kalamazoo Wings in 1979-80 and also playing professionally overseas in Switzerland for many seasons, offered here is this Red Wings jersey worn by Plumb during the 1977-78 season. Made by Stall and Dean, a washing instructions label is affixed to the inner collar along with fly tags reading "48" (size) and "7" year. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Red Wings team crest that features embroidered details throughout its entirety, the mesh construction offering with a knit hem has been styled over the sleeves and verso with Plumb's number "18" in single layer tackle twill numerals while "Plumb" has been spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed red knit nameplate at the top of the reverse. Of note, this was the first year that the Red Wings put nameplates on their red jerseys. Displaying the remains of a garter style fight strap on the interior and an Olympic Sporting Goods label inside the front hem, the jersey shows game-wear via stick marks over the front, reverse and right sleeve, pilling at the end of both cuffs, small unrepaired cuts/holes over both sleeves and reverse, light board burns over both sleeves and the reverse and finally, pilling on the interior, it is also worth noting that evidence of a former shorter nameplate appears on the interior but Plumb is the only one listed as having worn the number during the year. A Byron's Hockeyland LOA will accompany the piece.
