Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
The Big, Bad Bruins proved they were hardly one-hit wonders at the end of the 1971-72 season when they brought the Stanley Cup back home to Boston for the second time in three years. Phil Esposito had yet another sensational season with an eye-popping 66 goals and 133 points to lead the NHL. From Phil Esposito’s personal collection is this signed Mitchell & Ness 1971-72 Boston Bruins alternate captain’s jersey. Espo placed a bold black marker autograph and the “HOF 1984” annotation on the white and golden-yellow double twill number 7 on the back of this spectacular recreation of the Bruins’ black road jersey from that Stanley Cup season. Size 52 flag tag hangs to the right of the Mitchell & Ness NHL Vintage Hockey tagging in the neck, which has an Authentic 1971-1972 flag tag below it. The alternate captain’s “A” is sewn on the left breast in white and golden yellow double twill. The Vintage Hockey and Mitchell & Ness logos are embroidered on the rear tail. This spectacular signed jersey celebrating a great Bruins season and one of Boston’s greatest hockey icons comes with an LOA signed by Phil Esposito.
