Trailing only Gordie Howe for the most all-time points at the time of his retirement in 1981, Phil Esposito secured over 700 goals throughout his HOF career, with selection to the NHL First All-Star Team six times. A veteran of 1282 games played in his National Hockey League career who won a pair of Stanley Cup championships, a pair of Hart Memorial Trophies and five (5) Art Ross Trophies, Esposito would be the first NHL player to eclipse the 100 point plateau. Entering the 1973-74 season with a career total of 398 career goals and 898 career points, Esposito would record three (3) goals and two (2) assists during Boston's season opening game against the Vancouver Canucks, including a second period goal at the 8:47 mark that would serve as both the 400th goal and 900th point of Esposito's career. Assisted by teammate and fellow Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Bobby Orr, offered here is this display presented to Esposito by the Bruins in recognition of his accomplishment that includes the puck from both his 400th career goal and 900th career point. Measuring to full dimensions of roughly 21" x 27" with a light coloured wooden frame around the edge and a brown felt center board, a plaque reading "National Hockey League - Phil Esposito, Boston Bruins - 400 goals - 900 points - From January 25th, 1964 to October 10th, 1973" is affixed in the middle of the frame while a laser etched image of the monumental goal is seen underneath. Also having had the puck from the goal/point affixed to the bottom of the plaque so that the Bruins logo displays outward, it shows overall light-to-moderate game-wear including a mark through the bottom of the rubberized logo on the front. Sporting glue residue around the edge of the puck and a bend to the bottom left corner of the display, the plaque also sports some light surface wear and scratches. With the brown felt background a bit dirty/dusty and showing a couple small marks/stains, the wooden frame around the display shows some minor wear from age but is also in overall good condition. Hailing from Esposito's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany the piece.
