Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Well known as the man who owned the Edmonton Oilers during their glory years, Peter Pocklington purchased part ownership of the club in 1976, and was responsible for acquiring the rights to a young superstar named Wayne Gretzky in the fall of 1978. “Peter Puck” would remain at the Oilers helm throughout their Stanley Cup championships of the 1980s. Awarded for Edmonton’s status as Campbell Conference playoff champions in 1982-83, we have the Clarence Campbell championship trophy originally presented to the owner and entrepreneur. At 11” in height, the silver-plated handled cup with removable lid and chased detailing sits atop a hexagon-shaped 3-inch wooden base and is engraved “Peter Pocklington – Edmonton Oilers – 1982-83” on one side, with the name of the trophy and its "1968" year of inception on the other. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Peter Pocklington will accompany.
Absolutely stunning, there is some minor surface wear visible in spots including over the handles and along the top rim, with a few small blemishes present, with some additional wear to the wooden base.
