Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/1/2022
Duked out in front of the largest crowd to ever take in a National Hockey League game and pushing the Big House in Michigan to its capacity limits, Pavel Datsyuk and the Detroit Red Wings would find themselves once again playing outdoors on New Year’s Day in 2014, pitted against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and, to the tune of 105,491 people, ultimately lost the game 3-2 in the shootout. Offered here is Pavel Datsyuk’s signed Red Wings jersey worn in the 2nd period. Found on the inside neck is the Reebok flag tag listing the jersey as a size 56. Screened onto the neck is the NHL Winter Classic designation to go along with the NHL shield and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. The front emblem features a partially chain stitched winged wheel crest with “Detroit” stitched above in a beautiful felt material. On the right shoulder is the all-important 2014 Winter Classic patch. Worn for just one period of play, the jersey has very minor wear and presents beautifully except for a black mark on the left arm. Datsyuk has signed the reverse “3” in black marker. A MeiGray tag numbered “K06209” is sewn to the inside hem along with a team patch and bar code, and according to their population report, the jersey is a “Red - Winter Classic 1/1/14 at Michigan Stadium - Team Set Worn Period 2 - 1/1/14 At Michigan Stadium” specimen. A COA from the Red Wings will accompany.
