Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
A force to be reckoned with as a youth during the 1989 World Junior tournament, Pavel Bure was instantly recognizable by the bright yellow skate laces we wore. This lot contains a pair of skates used by the speedster during his time in Vancouver in 1992-93. Graff models, the well used size 9 ½” skates feature worn away and painted-over identifiers, with “10” handwritten along the underside of each Tuuk blade along with heavily reinforced custom stitching. Extensive use is exhibited on the pair, with heavy wear to the leather along with numerous puck marks scattered across the blades. The rubberized toes also show extensive wear. There is some surface rust to some of the rivets connecting the boots to the blades, and stick tape has been affixed across the blades. An LOA will accompany.
We should also note that the original tag from the Vancouver Canucks store is still attached to the skates. The 1992-93 season would be Bure’s best regarding scoring, finishing the season with an outstanding 110 points, which included 60 goals. He would follow up with an identical 60 goals the following season, in 1993-94.
