Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Honouring the greatest and most famous goal scored in hockey history, we have a collection of signed items celebrating Summit Series hero Paul Henderson, including a limited-edition Team Canada jersey, framed display, Team Canada photo and Silver Anniversary Pinnacle trading card. First, we have an AK Team Canada jersey, with “Team of the Century” patch and Henderson’s “19” on verso in tackle twill, with the hero signing below the left breast in black marker, with “410/1972” added. Next, the framed display is 15” x 17” and pictures the iconic goal, with both Henderson and victim Vladislav Tretiak signing in blue sharpie. The signed card comes in a group of 5, with these examples originally made for a limited-edition set. The Team Canada photo is 16” x 20”, with moderate corner wear, with both John Ferguson and Wayne Cashman signing (not Henderson). COAs will accompany for the jersey, display and signed card.
The jersey displays wonderfully, with just a bit of faint red colouring over the shoulders, with this occurring from contact with the red tackle twill identifiers while folded. The frame has a hologram affixed, along with the signed card. Info regarding the five included cards is as follows; Paul Henderson has signed in clear black marker on one of five rare 1997 Pinnacle trading cards celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic 1972 Summit Series. Featuring the art of acclaimed artist Daniel Parry, these five cards, in glorious condition, each show a different image of Henderson in action during the series and are numbered "S1 to S5". The Henderson signed card comes with a COA from Daniel Parry International. These particular cards were created to be released as an Exclusive Limited Edition framed set through Pinnacle, but when Pinnacle went out of business before releasing, the cards were sent to artist Parry (the copyright owner). Cards S1-S5 - the S4 card was never released unsigned (it was the autographed insert card) and the autographed S5 card in this set was only released as an unsigned insert card in 1997. So, the unsigned version of the S4 does not exist anywhere and the autographed S5 was previously only released unsigned.
