Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Drafted 11th overall in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft, Murray Wilson would spend just six seasons with Montreal, with his name engraved on Lord Stanley’s hardware an impressive four times! Originating from his second championship with the Habs and first of four consecutive for the city of Montreal, we have a gorgeous 10K gold and diamond ring that was presented to the Toronto native for the Canadiens status as Stanley Cup champions in 1976. Size 8 ½ with an approx. weight of 35 grams, the tableau feature’s a diamond mounted over a blue rectangular stone, encompassed by “Club de Hockey” and “Canadiens” above and below on the outer bezel, with “NHL” and “Champions” within the bezel. “19” and “76” also appear in raised and angled numerals. “Wilson”, a full colour Habs enamel logo and “17” appear over the right shank, with an embossed Stanley Cup set over an NHL shield logo on the left shank. The inner band also features an engraved facsimile auto of Wilson, with his signed LOA to accompany.
Tested by a jeweler for gold content and confirmed as 10K, the ring exhibits honest wear from use, with the raised letters and numerals over the tableau somewhat worn from rubbing, especially along edges, with additional wear to the outer band including scratches and a few minor dings. The ring would also benefit from a professional cleaning.
